• Built in Texas. Grounded in Over a Decade of Workplace Experience.

EQ Workforce exists because better hiring decisions require more than credential matching.

  • About EQ Workforce

    Our Mission

To connect Texas healthcare organizations with qualified professionals who are not only clinically prepared — but genuinely aligned with the team, culture, and environment they are entering.

We believe alignment drives retention. Retention drives better patient outcomes. And better patient outcomes are why the work matters.

    Why We Built This

Texas hospitals are navigating one of the most challenging nursing labor markets in the country. Vacancy rates are rising. Travel nurse costs are unsustainable. And the traditional staffing agency model — built around volume and placement fees — was not designed to solve a fit problem.

At the same time, healthcare professionals are experiencing record levels of burnout, turnover, and career dissatisfaction. Not because they lack skill or commitment — but because too many are placed in environments that do not support them.

EQ Workforce was built to address both sides of that equation. A sourcing and retention model that is better for hospitals and better for the professionals they hire.

    Why We Named It EQ.

EQ stands for Emotional Intelligence — the capacity to understand and respond to the human dynamics that shape how people work together.

In healthcare hiring, emotional intelligence is not a soft concept. It is a practical one. The professionals who thrive long-term in a clinical environment are not always the ones with the most experience on paper. They are the ones whose communication style, stress response, leadership preferences, and workplace expectations align with the team around them.

We built our matching and screening process around that insight. And we named the company to reflect it.

EQ Workforce was founded by Lakeisha Whitehead, a Texas-based employment attorney with degrees from UCLA and Georgetown Law Center and more than a decade of experience focused on work culture, retention, and talent sourcing.

Prior to EQ Workforce, Lakeisha founded Talent Karma — a platform focused on toxic work environments and the organizational factors that drive professional burnout and turnover. That work provided a ground-level understanding of what makes workplaces fail the people in them — and what a better hiring process could prevent.

  • How We Work.

    Clarity Before Speed

We begin every engagement — with employers and professionals alike — with structured discovery. We do not begin sourcing until we understand the role, the culture, the team environment, and what success looks like six months after hire.

    Alignment Over Volume

We do not measure success by the number of resumes delivered or candidates submitted. We measure it by whether the professionals we introduce are still in the role — and thriving — six months and a year later.

    Data-Informed Execution

Every engagement is tracked. Every pilot is measured. We collect outcome data — time to hire, 90-day retention, 12-month retention — and use it to refine our matching process continuously. We do not operate on assumptions. We operate on evidence.

    Respect for Professionals

Healthcare professionals are not inventory. We engage every professional in our network with transparency, consistency, and respect for their time and career.
